[haiku post] "a shallow river flowing"
4th-Oct-2004 02:34 pm
red leaves grow restless
past counting, patience, wind, love,
it's two thoughts dancing

growing song voices
forgotten seedlings in time
matured by sunsets

with thought overfull
fret no lost 'nor precious light
blessing in curse form

numbers are for birds
sometimes we have good reason
signed, mouseless weasel

choice of five seasons
one lasts but a day and night
mew! "not winter yet!"

you're so pretty when you don't make any sense...

What are you talking about? They all make perfect sense! ;) *blush*

This is a simpler version of the first one (my favorite):

red leaves grow restless
more than counting and numbers
it's two thoughts dancing

I was reflecting on natures of haiku besides the form: a poem that divides into two complementary parts, with a seasonal reference, simple, etc... not just syllable count.

There are some other references... leaves dancing in the wind and a scene in American Beauty related to that, and patience, gentleness, and their counterparts.

^_^ the bag scene? (the only part of the movie i've seen.)

this version makes more sense, but somehow that makes it less appealing.
