Is the original oil?

There's this way of preparing water so that you can float oil paints on it ... an old technique used for endpages in fine books ... gives it that kind of swirl feel.

The original is what you see. It's mouse-drawn in photoshop.

My only experiment with oil paints and water is this. Not what you're talking about, though. :)

Well you know, I was wondering if that was "mouse drawn" ... years ago I had a little tool that would do something like that, with about 6 different ballistic parameters to set ... width, rate of change, all of that, and it would sometimes make these lovely sweepts ala Japanese calligraphy.
