I was thinking that LJ seems more connected than real life. In short, friends know your friends, and the people you'd be interested in. Of course, LJ is a smaller population, and a communicative and technocentric one at that. It doesn't take a lot of filters to reduce it to a manageable community. But then I remembered how connected offline life is... when I actually meet someone I don't already know of online. So I have nothing to post about. There's nothing like the 'net. I flop like a fish.

... I can't get over the impression that IRL is increasingly empoverished. I'm so /sick/ of goinf to clubs in order to socialize.

Once upons a time picnics were pretty much a part of normal life.
